Accreditation
University accreditation is a mark of quality among the broader academic and professional communities. Regional accreditation communicates to other academic institutions and to the public that the university can demonstrate successful student learning and effective teaching by meeting a set of rigorous quality standards. Walden is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association, www.ncahlc.org.
About the North Central Association
The North Central Association is a U.S. membership organization for educational institutions that was created to develop and maintain high standards of academic excellence. Walden is also a member of the Academy for Assessment of Student Learning, sponsored by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The North Central Association is one of the six regional accrediting associations recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
Program Accreditation
Accreditation can also apply to specific degree programs. However, not all programs require or are even eligible for specialized accreditation. The following Walden programs are accredited:
- B.S. in Business Administration
This online degree program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), a leading specialized accreditation association that identifies and supports excellence in business education. - Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Completion Program
This online nursing degree program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), a national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
